2022, Cut steel sign on custom support

One of four signs on the waterfront, a text based installation running along the water’s edge, a speculative infrastructure suggesting how we might live in relationship to this place, its other non-human inhabitants, and each other.

Artist Bio
smudge studio is a collaboration between Elizabeth Ellsworth and Jamie Kruse.
Their media include photography, performative research, multiples, installation and micro-productions. Inspired by both ancient and contemporary observations of Earth’s time and place in the cosmos, they stage embodied engagements with the planet’s ever-transforming events and conditions — human and nonhuman. They take this to be a vital aesthetic-ecological act.
This artwork was created through the Waterfront Artist Residency, supported by the Waterfront BIA and Waterfront Toronto.
